Highgate Cemetery

My interest and affection for Victorian Gothic cemeteries is well documented by now, and last Sunday I had the chance to visit Highgate in North London. It really is the ultimate Gothic cemetery. I took most of these shots with a view to making them monochrome, but some worked best in colour.

I saw this rather peculiar tree on the Grand Canal this evening: it was bedecked in wind-chimes and angels. All quite odd, but charming nonetheless.
