Day 119

It's an early start today. In eighteen hours I'll be in San Francisco.

Day 118

Photographing the Pepper Cannister is a lot like hunting deer: if you have a shot pull the trigger!

Thursday, 27 September 2012

Day 117

To be totally honest I just thought these clouds were quite cool.

Wednesday, 26 September 2012

Day 116

An unexpectedly beautiful sunset this evening, given all the rain that fell today. As I was heading home the sun was hitting the red bricks of Fitzwilliam Square, and it looked amazing!

Day 114

I am starting to fear for my blog as we head towards winter. It rains a lot, and it's difficult to find new and interesting ways to photograph the wet. I had an idea for a photo when I left this morning, but circumstances worked against me and I couldn't get it. This is a attempt at that image, but it's not quite there. Rain me hole!

Day 112

It was only a flying visit to Dingle, and I was back on the road early this morning. As I rounded the bend towards Inch there was the most amazing pale yellow quality to the light; although the sun was up for a while it felt like sunrise

Day 111

From one extreme of hotel to the other. It's only 36 hours since I left Sardinia and already it seems like a lifetime. People that don't work away from home have a notion that there is a glamour to hotel-living, but they are wrong, certainly in my experience. Another work night away, another interchangeable image of a hotel room.

Day 110

Home again after our holiday in Sardinia. It was a beautiful morning this morning in Alghero, but the Mediterranean was rough, and rather than swim in my usual spot I instead took some photos of the waves crashing over the rocks, with Capo Caccia in the background.

Wednesday, 19 September 2012

Day 109

The marble stairs at the Villa Las Tronas, where I'm led to believe the Romanovs summered.

Tuesday, 18 September 2012

Day 108

Soft light filtering through the curtains as evening falls in Sardinia.

Monday, 17 September 2012

Day 107

I took a lot of photos today, but really the most appropriate one for this post is sundown over Capo Caccia on the last night of my thirties.

Sunday, 16 September 2012

Day 106

A stroll around Alghero's old town after lunch, and the opportunity to see the 17th century cathedral.

Saturday, 15 September 2012

Day 105

A trip into town for lunch today, and some rather good street art on the way.

Friday, 14 September 2012

Day 104

A day spent relaxing by the pool and reading my book and generally becoming au fait with the layout of the hotel.

Thursday, 13 September 2012

Day 103

Arrived in Sardinia today for first proper time off since January. I've been a bit worried over how this blog would work whilst here, but camera phone seems the way forward. This is the view from our hotel: it's sunset over Capo Caccia.

Wednesday, 12 September 2012

Day 102

Working in a new office since Monday, and when the sun shines through the trees and window to illuminate the wall it makes the most amazing shapes and textures. Today, abstract is where it's at!

Tuesday, 11 September 2012

Day 101

Truth be told I'm quite disappointed with today's picture. I quite like the basic image, but I'm sorry I didn't spend a bit longer there.

Monday, 10 September 2012

Day 100

There's a long list of reasons for today to be consigned to the dustbin of history: weather, work, traffic, weather again. Sometimes you just have to envy a cat; especially one whose only stress is some eejit trying to take her photograph

Sunday, 9 September 2012

Day 99

In a lot of ways this is quite a pedestrian image, but in a lot of ways it's an awesome one. This is because it's the view from my balcony at home in Dublin, and although it was nice to be in Dingle for two months, it's nicer to be home!

Saturday, 8 September 2012

Day 98

I drove home today via Kilkenny today. I love driving through Kilkenny: there are castles and towers littered throughout the county. This tower looks 15th century, but it's just there, in a field of cows, protected only by a thin electrified wire. I did a bit of work on the image in post, but only what I'd intended when I took it.

Friday, 7 September 2012

Day 97

Last night in Dingle tonight, so I drove out towards Slea Head to get a shot of the sunset. As always the weather in Dingle can make an idiot of you, but the sun did manage to poke through enough to get a bit of colour into this shot. That's it, bye bye Dingle!

Thursday, 6 September 2012

Day 96

I'm almost finished my current rotation in Dingle, so today was my penultimate drive down an unexplored road. This one lead up a steep hill through a farmed forest to a locked gate. Just as I was starting to regret my choice the sun came out from behind a cloud, and the telegraph poles turned white. As soon as I saw it happen I knew that this would be a monochrome picture; sort of Ansel Adams, only more provincial.

Wednesday, 5 September 2012

Day 95

A different road out of town this evening, and I found an overgrown graveyard. As previously noted, I love these small, overgrown graveyards. This angel has seen better days, but the texture from the mould and decay is amazing, and whilst it looked great in black and white, I think it's better in colour.

Tuesday, 4 September 2012

Day 94

Some days you just get lucky. I stopped on a back road to walk around and see if I could find some inspiration, when I heard a buzzing from the flowers by the verge. It was a large bee, buzzing from flower to flower, and doing it quite quickly. By the time I focused it had moved on, or crawled inside a flower when it was hidden from view. I realised that my best bet was to try and catch it in flight, and on the third attempt I was successful. Some days you just get lucky!

Monday, 3 September 2012

Day 93

It started out as a nice day, but it didn't last very long, and by evening it was a day unsuitable for anything other than complaining about the weather. That, and photographing cobwebs. Rest assured, I did both.

Sunday, 2 September 2012

Day 92

An absolutely beautiful day in Dublin, and so very busy. This is one of the lamps on the Ha'penny Bridge.

Saturday, 1 September 2012

Day 91

Touchdown Notre Dame! That'd be the Notre Dame v Navy Emerald Isle Classic in the Aviva Stadium where I spent the afternoon, and a very pleasant afternoon it was too!
